New FourOne Insights Research Identifies Fastest Growing Tech Skills in Massachusetts
Demand for Generative AI skills in Massachusetts has increased a stunning 682% in the last two years, according to new research released today from FourOne Insights and the Massachusetts Technology Leadership Council.
Yet while demand for Gen AI skills in Massachusetts is growing 8% faster than the national average, which reflects the growing impact of AI, seven of the top 10 skills aren’t AI-related. Skills in data, security, and modern development practices are also growing rapidly, according to the report, which launches a regular series of pulse reports by FourOne and MTLC on the commonwealth’s tech jobs market.
The challenge for employers is that in only two of the top 10 skills are there enough workers in Massachusetts to meet demand, the report said. Furthermore, these high-growth skills command salary premiums that can run over $30,000 per hire. Upskilling existing workers in these skills, rather than hiring new ones, will therefore be the most cost-effective solution.
